Socionext's image processor is able to deliver the high-resolution 4K video needed by a broad range of expanding applications, such as surveillance cameras, drones, automotive driver assist and in-vehicle camera recorders.
The device is equipped with a powerful codec engine developed by Socionext. Integrated hardware macros are specialized for various image-processing functions, reducing the CPU load. Power consumption is as low as 2 watts when operating with 4K at 60 frames per second (fps).
Applications include flying cameras such as those mounted on aerial unmanned vehicles, can be used to capture images and video for search-and-rescue operations in dangerous areas. Other possible applications are action cameras, which can be used in non-sporting applications, and in-vehicle camera recorders, which provide video that can be useful for investigations of traffic incidents.
